Come to Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh is in the southwest corner of Pennsylvania. By car, it is 4 hrs to Detroit or Washington, DC, 5 hrs to Philadelphia, 6 hrs to Toronto and New York City, and 8hrs to Chicago. Megabus offers bus service to Pittsburgh from Washington, Philadelphia, and New York.

The Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) has direct flights from all major US airports, and select international destinations (Toronto, Montreal, London, Frankfurt, and Reykjavik). From the airport, there is an inexpensive express bus service to the University of Pittsburgh (28x), stopping right next to the conference hotels . Or Taxi, Lyft, and Uber are convenient alternatives, although their expense will reflect the 30 min driving distance to the University/hotel options.

Moving around in town

Once in town, it is possible to rent bicycles from various rental facilities right on the street (Healthy Ride). Uber and Lyft are extremely well populated in town; regular taxi is possible but noticeably slower. During the day, regular city buses are a great choice for moving about in town (the google maps app provides excellent information about where buses go and when they will arrive).
