Research is one of the fundamental functions of universities and colleges. The Iloilo State College of Fisheries’ Research and Development Unit is mandated to direct, plan, operate, delegate, monitor, evaluate, and manage research programs, projects, and activities of the college.
The form below shows the research involvement and outputs of the full-time faculty as well as the annual research cost expenditure.
Currently, seventy-seven percent (185 out of 241) of faculty members are engaged in research. The research activities and projects of the College are in line with government priorities, which are systematically reported for the utilization of its stakeholders.
Seventy-three percent (175 out of 241) of faculty members have completed research. Out of these completed researches, eighty-eight percent (154 out of 175) of the faculty have published their outputs, where 55% (84 out of 154 faculty) published in refereed journals, and 45% (70 out of 154 faculty) published in local/institutional journals.
The R&D budget is allocated with 10.78 percent of the institution's total GAA for the last five years (2017-2021), with additional funds generated within the institution. MOOE, PS, and CO are included in the said budget allocation. The total research budget allocation out of total operating budget (GAA & internal generated income) is 9.30%. This will ensure that research projects and activities are continuously implemented. In addition, other internally generated funds, such as 164 (income and fiduciary) and 161 (IGP), supplement research funding. In addition to IGF, faculty research is funded by external agencies. This significantly enhances research output. The actual research utilization rate of GAA is 9.57% for the last five years (2017-2021).
