Star360 Testing FAQ

Q: What is my Star360 username/password?

A: Your username is supposed to be your work email, while your password is supposed to be "k12." If this does not work, please send an email to John Kantz (jkantz@k12.com) and CC me on it.

Q: Can students continue to test outside of the testing window?

A: No, they cannot. We can ask for an extension for all students if we think it is necessary, but not for individual students.

Q: Where can I find a student's login information?

A: Their username is always their student ID. Their password is always their first name, lowercase, followed by the last three numbers of their student ID. With that said, some students have hyphenated names or other unusual characters in their name. See the Password Report that I emailed you to be sure.

Finally, I do email all students missing tests every morning of the testing window with their username, password, and which test(s) they are missing. You can always direct them to their school email inbox!

Q: I have a student who cannot log in, even with the exact username and password you provided.

A: First, try the username/password out for yourself. You can log in as the student. If you are able to do this, then the student is likely at the wrong Star360 website.

If you are sure they are at the correct website, have them clear their browser history, restart their browser, and try again.

If ALL of that fails, please email me - and please try to have the student take a screenshot of whatever is happening when they try to log in.

Q: How do I pull a report from Star360?

A: Assuming you are able to log in, you will go to Reports and choose a report there. Whichever report you pull, make sure that the school you select is Insight School of California. In most cases you will want to select all teachers/classrooms, or if you must choose, the grade level classrooms. When you see all of the students populate, the fastest way to select one is to press Ctrl+F on your keyboard and begin typing the student's name.

Q: What reports should I pull?

A: The Star360 website is good for pulling reports on individual students. The diagnostic report will always give you the results of the student's most recent test - but it may not be their BEST test! It is less useful for pulling reports on groups of students because the way they are grouped in the system does not necessarily reflect the way we would want to group them to analyze their data.

Q: How do I look at student data?

A: You will need to access my report in a program called Power BI. The access link will be emailed to all staff, but if you missed it, just email/Skype me.

Q: When do content teachers update their gradebooks and give points to students who finish the test?

A: Technically they ought to be doing this daily. If you hear any complaints from students about grade update delays, I would suggest the following:

  • If within 24 hrs of their having completed one or both tests, ask them to be patient. Star360 is not connected to our gradebooks in the OMHS. Teachers must manually enter grades, which is why I put out a report every morning.

  • If after 24 hrs of having completed one or both tests: please let me know. I will reach out to the appropriate staff to ensure gradebooks are being kept up to date.
