Preamble
In the face of major environmental challenges such as climate change, the accelerated loss of biodiversity, and ecosystem degradation, it is imperative to mobilize the scientific community, policymakers, and civil society actors to better understand and manage natural resources.
Biodiversity is a fundamental pillar of ecosystems, providing essential services such as climate regulation, soil fertility, and the availability of water resources. However, anthropogenic pressures, multiple forms of pollution, and increasing urbanization are threatening this biodiversity and weakening ecosystems.
In this context, the 2nd International Seminar on Biodiversity and Natural Resource Management serves as a platform for exchange, dissemination, and concrete action. It is part of a collaborative research initiative aimed at exploring the interactions between humans, biodiversity, and ecosystems, while identifying sustainable solutions for their preservation.
The main objectives of this seminar are to:
Enhance understanding of species and natural ecosystems, with a particular focus on the effects of global environmental changes on biodiversity.
Promote the sharing and dissemination of scientific data, field experiences, and best practices in the sustainable management of natural resources.
Encourage collaborative research through joint scientific initiatives, training, and field campaigns.
Strengthen international and regional cooperation to develop effective actions for biodiversity conservation.
Algeria, with its rich but vulnerable ecological heritage, will be at the heart of discussions—as both a case study and a platform for exchange—highlighting the urgent need for collaborative efforts to protect biodiversity in the face of growing environmental pressures.
