Attitudes towards languages: Multilingualism, plurilingualism and language education for a democratic, just and sustainable world
The 2026 Irish Association for Applied Linguistics (IRAAL) Annual Conference welcomes abstracts (max. 250 words) for theoretical and empirical presentations in any area of Applied Linguistics, broadly defined, including, but not confined to the following:
Bilingualism
Multilingualism & Plurilingualism
Translanguaging
Interculturality
Language Policy & Language Planning
Language Education & Language Teaching, Learning and Assessment
Second Language Acquisition
Psychology of Language Learning
Pragmatics
Corpus Linguistics
Historical Linguistics
Translation & Interpreting
We welcome abstracts for presentation in any of the following formats:
20-minute paper, with 5 minutes for questions and discussions
60-minute thematic panel or roundtable discussion (3-4 contributors)
Poster presentations
Abstracts that specifically address the conference theme, Irish-language contributions and abstracts from postgraduate students and early-career researchers are all welcome.
This year, as we are hosting the AILA-Europe Junior Researchers Meeting (JRM), we invite contributions from early-career researchers who are members of AILA Europe affiliate associations, eligible for the reduced registration rate.
