Call for Papers

The 15th International Conference on Information Processing in Computer-Assisted Intervention (IPCAI)

Barcelona, Spain, June 18-19 2024

Intention to submit deadline for regular papers: 20 13 Oct. 2023

Submission deadline for regular papers: 27 20 Oct. 2023

IPCAI is one of the most important research venues for computer-assisted surgery and minimally invasive interventions. Now in its 15th year, IPCAI attracts clinicians, engineers and computer science researchers from various backgrounds, including machine learning, data science, robotics, computer vision, medical imaging and sensing technologies. IPCAI fosters connections and showcases high quality research in a unique and focused two-day event. The conference is formatted specifically to actively engage the attendees.

We call for high quality, original and unpublished paper submissions that describe innovative methodologies, clinical applications or clinical validations of computer-assisted intervention (CAI) systems. The submission should fit within 12 pages (Springer Nature format) in any of the following topics:

IPCAI submission process:

Submissions are made using CMT, where you must upload a single PDF file (up to 12 pages in a single column), formatted according to IJCARS using the LaTeX Springer Nature template. Submission is competitive via a single blind peer-review process. Please see the conference timeline for important dates and the submission page for more information. Accepted submissions will be transferred to IJCARS for a final review round, for  publication as full journal papers in the IPCAI 2024 Special Issue of IJCARS

Call for Long Abstracts

Submission deadline for long abstracts: 20 Jan. 2024

IPCAI 2024 has two long abstract tracks:

Track 1: Late-breaking research: If you would like to present new research that falls within the scope of IPCAI, that has not yet been published, and whose results are too preliminary for a regular paper, you should consider submitting your work to this track. If your long abstract is accepted on this track, you will be invited to submit a revised version for publication in the IPCAI-IJCARS 2024 special issue as a short communication paper.

Track 2: Journal article presentation: If you have recently published a journal article with scientific contributions that fall in the scope of IPCAI, and you would like to present this work orally at IPCAI, you should consider submitting a long abstract version of your work to this track. The intention is to grant greater exposure to high-quality published research, that would be of good interest to the audience, which may not otherwise have a suitable platform for oral presentation.

IPCAI submission process:

Submissions for both tracks are made using CMT, where you must upload a single PDF file (up to 4 pages in a single column), formatted according to IJCARS using the LaTeX Springer Nature template. Submission is competitive via a single blind peer-review process. Please see the conference timeline for important dates. Please consult the submission instructions for further details.
