2022

11/11/2022. Science Week.

On 11/11/2022, a scientific dissemination event was held in the CSIC central building (C/Serrano 117) in order to disseminate scientific knowledge related to optics to the general public. The objective was for the public to learn, participate and experience first-hand different knowledge related to optics, in addition to being able to bring the work of scientific research personnel closer to the younger public. Four scientific workshops related to optics were held: 1) Optical instruments and visual system, 2) Holography, 3) Fluorescence, phosphorescence and chemiluminescence and 4) Telecommunications. More than 60 people (both adults and children) attended this activity.

Workshops given by IOPTICA with funding from Ciudad Ciencia

Science City is a national scientific dissemination project of the Deputy Vice Presidency of Scientific Culture and Citizen Science of the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) whose purpose is for inhabitants of towns far from large urban centers to learn first-hand about current events. scientific and technological. IOPTICA works directly with the Science City project in order to disseminate a series of scientific workshops related to: 1) Optical instruments and visual system, 2) Holography, 3) Fluorescence, phosphorescence and chemiluminescence and 4) telecommunications (and others). During 2021, the workshops were held in the following municipalities and had the following impact:

05/16/2022-05/17/2022. Los Barrios, Cádiz (approximately 160 students from 2nd and 3rd ESO)

05/26/2022 Ocaña, Toledo (approximately 60 students from 4th and 3rd ESO)

11/01/2022-11/03/2022. San Josep de Talaia, Ibiza (approximately 160 students in 6th grade)

11/26/2022-11/27/2022. Aspe, Alicante (approximately 160 students from 1st and 2nd ESO)

Activities on Social Networks

Conferences

06/13/2022-06/15/2022. Iberic Meeting of Optics Students (IMOS) 2022, Aveiro (Portugal). IOPTICA participated as an organizing committee and also presented five scientific contributions at the Iberic Meeting of Optics Students (IMOS) 2022, Aveiro (Portugal).

Talks organized by IOPTICA

05/30/2022. First Conference on Equality and Gender Perspective (hybrid format). IOPTICA, together with the CSIC Equality Group, organized the first CSIC Equality and Gender Perspective conferences at the Optical Institute. The speakers were doctors Sonia Estradé, Mº Pilar López and Francisca Puertas.

Activities taught by IOPTICA with the help of Ciencia en el Barrio

05/20/2022. III Science Fair in the Neighborhood. Science in the Neighborhood is a CSIC dissemination project that brings science to neighborhoods in Madrid with little cultural offer of this type. IOPTICA collaborated with this project during its III Fair held on 05/20/2022. The complete event consisted of previously training 30 students from the IES Conde de Orgaz in experiments on optics so that these students would then replicate these experiments to more than 500 ESO students from different institutes at the entrance to the CSIC (C/Serrano 117).

Courses enjoyed by IOPTICA members

01/10/2022-02/07/2022. “Telling Science and Communicating with the Media Course (15 teaching hours)”, taught at the Daza de Valdés-CSIC Optical Institute (Madrid) from January 10 to February 7, 2022.
