Here are some tips to exit an interview gracefully and strategically:
• The comments and nonverbal activities of the interviewer will indicate that the interview is coming to an end
• DO NOT prolong the interview. Rise quickly, offer a handshake and thank the interviewer for the opportunity to meet
• Say goodbye warmly and courteously
• Do not rearrange your documents in front of the interviewer. Exit promptly. This shows your sense of purpose and direction
Handwritten thank you notes are so rarely seen that when a recruiter sees one from someone she just interviewed, she's more likely to remember the candidate.
Send an email thank you note immediately after the interview and a handwritten one should follow within 2 working days. For the content of the note, download the powerpoint and watch the video for more thank you note etiquette rules.
