A session you can help shape
Please share your preferences for lighting, sound, conversation, scent, touch, and temperature, along with any positions you find difficult. We agree on a clear way to pause or stop, and check consent as the work changes. A calm environment should fit you rather than require you to tolerate a particular atmosphere.
Share the goal you want to work toward and any relevant medical advice or restrictions. Let us know about recent changes in symptoms, injuries, procedures, medications relevant to massage safety, and previous reactions to bodywork. We can decide whether to proceed, adapt the plan, or seek another clinician's guidance.
Please do not send detailed medical records by ordinary email before an appropriate intake arrangement has been confirmed.
We will discuss the proposed work, positioning, draping, and the areas you want included or avoided. You can ask questions, decline any element, request a change, or stop the session at any time.
You choose how much you want to discuss during the work. Clear feedback about pressure and comfort is welcome. You do not need to push through pain to help the treatment succeed.
The aim is a level of touch you can comfortably tolerate. If a sensation becomes sharp, unfamiliar, unpleasant, or otherwise concerning, say so immediately. The response should guide a reduction, a change, or stopping, not a request to endure more.
We will revisit the original goal and discuss the response. Notice how you feel later as well as immediately afterward. Report a flare or a response that interferes with your normal activity so the next decision can take it into account.
Seek appropriate medical care for new, severe, or concerning symptoms rather than waiting for another massage appointment.
When massage needs extra consideration
Massage has generally low reported risk, but serious adverse events have occurred. Relevant health conditions and treatment history may require adaptation or avoidance. If you are unsure whether massage is suitable, discuss it with your health care professional. [1]
