Ms. NIEDLING Csabáné (University of Pecs, Hungary)

When I was born, my parents gave me the name ERIKA. This became my first name and my last name was KALMÁR after my father's name. When I got married, my name changed. In Hungary 30 years ago there were 3 varieties: 1. The woman retains her own maiden name after marriage. 2. She takes her husband's surname with a „NÉ” ending, joined by her own maiden name. (NIEDLINGNÉ KALMÁR ERIKA) 3. She picks up her husband's full name with a „NÉ” ending. I chose the latter so became my name: NIEDLING CSABA ISTVÁNNÉ The funny thing was that it turned out for me only at the registry office that my future husband had not one, but two first names. There is much more variations today for name selection but that would be a longer story.

And the teacher asked: where is your child? It turned out it was swimming course for kids. That’s the reason why I still can’t swim

Ms. Agnieszka Brożonowicz (University of Opole, Poland) - confirmed

My name is Agnieszka, and I live in Opole, Poland. My Mom is a kind and loving woman, always seeking to help everyone around her. When times are dark, and problems arise, she can always be counted on for advice and a smile. Sometimes, in my younger days, if we agreed to meet somewhere, she'd try to catch me on the way, instead of waiting in the agreed spot, to save me the walking. What would consistently happen then is the two of us missing each other because of her "shortcuts," Since there were no phones back then, we'd have a hard time figuring out where we were. Finding each other again was a bit of a headache. I love her and her little quirks. We don't always see eye to eye on everything, and believe me, you wouldn't want to get on her wrong side, but I'd honestly not trade her for anyone else.

My name is Agnieszka Brożonowicz, and I am 44 years old. I live in Opole, Poland. I have a son, a daughter, and a wonderful dog. I studied biology and environmental protection on the University of Opole. I am the head of the dean's office of the medical faculty, but I’ve been with the University of Opole for the past 19 years. I am delighted with the work because I have a fantastic team and a professional boss. I like working with students of medicine. I love traveling, especially hiking in the mountains and near lakes. I read a lot of books, primarily criminal thrillers. I like listening to music, photography, and cooking.

Ms. Małgorzata Kowzan (Opole University, Poland) - confirmed.

Once upon a time, there was this boy I liked. He was very handsome and had dark curly hair. My heart consistently pounded at the sight of him. One day, as I left school, I saw him waiting for me. I was dazed but also excited. I looked at him, and he looked at me. He was smiling so beautifully that my legs felt like jelly. I started walking toward him, my eyes not wandering anywhere else. It was like a dream, a beautiful dream, which unfortunately was cut short by a road sign I bumped into on the way

The pain was terrible, and the shame was worse. I quickly turned red and ran off to the building near my school. I must spend there over an hour hiding. I got home that day sad and disappointed. However, a few years later, that boy waiting for me outside school became my husband. We like to go back to that memory. Infatuation, a road sign, and a clash with reality became the fundaments of our love, one that has been going strong for the past 25 years. I am thankful for him and my sons, Janek and Wojtek and I am very happy to have them in my life.

I am 45 years old. I have two sons, husband and an aquarium fish. I graduated studies in tourism and management in administration. I have also a foreign tour guide license I work in dean”office of medical faculty in Opole University since 3 years. I am very pleased with the work, because I have very cordial friends, a wonderful manager and a very professional boss. I really like working with students .  Besides I was working in the Social Insurance Institution, I worked there for 18 years, and for the last 8 years as the head of the statistics and reconciliation department. However, I needed a change, I wanted a break from reports, deadlines and analyses. Despite I changed my job, I still keep in touch with my friends from my previous job, because they are friends for life. Moreover, I really like cooking with my sons and writing fairy tales for children.

I live in small, but beautiful city of Opole in Poland. I have two dogs including one shih tzu – sometimes I have a feeling what she thinks she is a cat. When I'm not at work, I'm learning japanese, training pole dance and making my own cosmetics and candles. I like to do a lot of things because I think the world has a lot to offer us. I used to create a music but now unfortunatelly I don’t have enough time.

Mr. Pedro M.J. Wyns (Thomas More, Belgium) - confirmed

I gathered an international crew in June to go on a sailing holiday to Azores Islands. Wind decided differently. After three days of struggling against the wind in the Northsea Channel we made a 180 degrees turn to end up in chilly Norway with nothing but shorts, bikinis and T-shirts… Still recovering from freezing there…

Born in 1966. Started playing with radio transmitters at the age of 12. Youngest licensed amateur radio operator in Belgium at 15yo. After classical gymnasium I refused to follow the study advice for med school or law school but went into electronics. Started teaching at the same school right after getting my degree in electronics/telecom. Also collected a teaching degree, just in case… Got annoyed after 3 years having to change course topics all the time so moved to a midsized hospital as head of the instrumental department, with a team servicing high end medical electronics. Learned a lot about life sustaining equipment and quality assurance. Designed sleeping laboratories. Left bored again 14 years later to start in media as the head of operations of the Belgian public broadcaster, playing with high powered transmitters, microwave links and satellite uplinks. In this function I gathered a lot of knowledge on radiation effects on the human body. Got kicked out as part of a large technical outsourcing operation and after a sabbatical I went back to teaching. After trying out some schools and even a year as school director I arrived at Thomas More where I am now teaching electronics and telecom related courses for the past three years. Setting new standards in remote teaching due to the C-word. Apart from that still a keen amateur radio operator, spending holidays and long weekends on a sailing yacht in the Netherlands. Father of the youngest Cisco network engineer worldwide (19yo). It is in the genes…

A mind is like a parachute - it can't work if it is not open.

Born in a great year for winemakers (the 1970 vintage was fantastic for Europe and very interesting for the rest of the world), started singing and playing accordion very early. After gymnasium I was strongly advised to study fundamental sciences or architecture engineering but turned to foreign languages and linguistics. Started individual teaching/translating but jumped into something completely different - a medium-sized company in the office and school supply industry. I acquired considerable knowledge in printing, Kunstdruck, design, exporting/importing goods, negotiating, shipping, custom clearance procedures. Simultaneously, I was working on my magister thesis on adult education. And then I moved again - to the higher education sector where I still work (having been working there for 24 years), teaching English as a foreign language for specific purposes in a highly complex and demanding multidisciplinary field of biotechnology engineering, meticulously orchestrating the guidance of the students-future biotechnology engineers into raising their levels of communicative language ability, disciplinary literacy, foreign language strategy performance in face-to-face and online teaching environment, particularly challenging in the last couple of years, as well as creating ESP teaching materials. My research interests include second language acquisition, communicative language ability and impacts of language learning anxiety, language learning strategies, disciplinary literacy, adult/teacher education, online teaching. I'm still keen on physics, biochemistry, philosophy, visual arts, architecture, music (for some time I was a music editor of a radio station environment program). I spend my free time cycling, hiking, doing carpentry/painting, sailing and still can't decide which I like more - galaktoboureko or cannoli siciliani
