Nick Ost gained his Master in Music Performance in June 1999 at the Royal Flemish Conservatoire of Antwerp with the Highest Distinction for euphonium.
In 2006 he obtained his Master degree of Music Harmony at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and in 2008 his diploma Master Orchestral Conducting, with Highest Distinction, at the Lemmens Institute Leuven.
From June 2001-2010 he was operative as professional euphonium player with the Royal Symphonic Band of the Belgian Guides.
Since 2009 he did Orchestral Conducting Classes in London, St. Petersburg, Ruse, Budapest, Ostrava, Moscow, Los Angeles and Karlovy Vary. As a result he conducted the St. Petersburg Chamber Philharmonic, The Rousse State Symphony Orchestra, The Janacek Philharmonic, The St Petersburg State Hermitage Orchestra, the Moscow Philharmonic and Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra in concert.
On September 20th 2014, he was 2nd prizewinner at the «Black Sea International Conducting Competition» with the Contantza Symphony Orchestra, Romania. He also was awarded the special prize «George Enescu» for the best interpretation of the mandatory piece «Romanian Rhapsody No.2».
Nick is currently MD of the Stordal and Vatne Hornmusikklag, Musikklaget Brage and is guest conductor at the Romsdals Orkesteret and the Kristiansund Symphony Orchestra in Norway and the Flanders Symphony Orchestra in Belgium. He is also guest professor at the Lemmens Institute Leuven (Belgium) and teaches brass at the Stordal and Haram Kulturskole (Norway).
