1.4 Can AI also be used for critical thinking prompts, adaptive practice, real-time feedback, and directly supporting student learning and engagement?
As AI develops and its capabilities and limitations are further studied, a consensus seems to emerge that AI can indeed be utilized for all learning applications outlined in Objective 1.4. As with most technology in education, it depends on the educator to be fully aware of how they are using AI and directing students to utilize it, ensuring that it enriches the learning process (Holmes, Bialik, & Fadel, 2019).
📝Culminating Activity: Think back to the information from sections 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3 to help answer these question in your Guided Overview.
Answer the question at the top of the page. Pick one aspect of AI in education mentioned (creation of critical thinking prompts, adaptive practice, real-time feedback, or student engagement) and create/describe an activity in which AI is an enhancement to learning.
Next, for the same aspect of AI education, create/describe an activity where AI is not enhancing learning.
Finally, explain what educators need to consider when implementing AI into their educational practices.
