Dr. Thuane Bochorny is a Brazilian biologist and researcher working in the fields of botany, evolution, biogeography, and biodiversity conservation. Her research focuses primarily on the evolution and diversification of plants associated with Brazilian rocky outcrops, with an emphasis on endemic lineages from the Atlantic Forest, Cerrado, Caatinga, and Amazon biomes. Throughout her career, she has developed studies integrating systematics, phylogenetics, evolutionary biogeography, and conservation, seeking to understand how geological, climatic, and ecological processes have shaped the plant diversity of these unique environments.
Currently, she is an affiliated researcher at the Museu do Amanhã (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and collaborates with national and international institutions. Her recent interests focus on the intersections between biodiversity, traditional knowledge, and biocultural conservation, with particular attention to themes related to Regenerative Futures. Her work also includes science communication, public engagement with science, and interdisciplinary initiatives that foster dialogue between science, art, and society.
