Hugo Garcia holds a Bachelor's Degree in Geography Education from the Federal Institute of Ceará (IFCE), Quixadá Campus, Brazil.
During his undergraduate studies, he developed research projects in phytosociology, focusing on the composition, structure, and distribution of vegetation in the Caatinga biome. This work provided a strong foundation in ecological and phytogeographical studies, contributing to his understanding of floristic survey techniques, vegetation pattern analysis, and the critical interpretation of natural environments, particularly within semiarid ecosystems.
These experiences also strengthened his interest in the relationships among vegetation, landforms, and environmental conditions, an approach that now directly informs his research in phytogeomorphology and inselberg ecosystems.
Hugo's Master's research focuses on investigating the relationship between phytogeomorphological features and plant distribution on the inselbergs of Quixeramobim, Ceará, Brazil. His work seeks to understand how geomorphological and environmental factors influence vegetation composition and spatial patterns in these unique rocky outcrop ecosystems.
