While I ultimately decided to go with the broadcast route, my interest and skills aren't confined strictly to video production. In beginning journalism, I explored the world of design, learning to navigate Adobe InDesign. At first, it was tricky. Again, this was something completely new to me so I had a tough time adjusting. With a quick briefing and a few too many Google searches, I got the hang of designing magazine spreads. The main focus I had across all of the spreads I created was hockey. Hockey is such a big passion for me, so to be able to incorporate that into my work was something I enjoyed. This is another aspect of journalism I admire; the freedom you have. Design truly revealed the full freedom I possessed when creating. Below, you'll find a few spreads I created last semester.Â
