This class requires the use of breakout rooms to discuss topics in small groups. This means you must use the Zoom desktop or mobile client. The browser platform will NOT work with this. See: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/115005769646-Participating-in-Breakout-Rooms?mobile_site=true

The book: The Virtual Learning Commons by Loertscher and Koechlin. This will be sent to each of you on the contacts list.
Activity 2:
90% of our time will be spent studying and building the virtual library rather than the physical collection. And, we will use design thinking to do our work.
Activity 3:
We will begin with two traditional approaches: The community served by a particular library; and, the state of technology
After that, we will all help design what we learn for the rest of the course.
Activity 4:
Describe project 1. A study of the community of a particular library. Rough draft due next workshop.
Activity 5:
Look up an "inquiry model" on Google Images. Select one and describe how it compares with investigations you have done in the past.
Now look up "design thinking models" and compare this process with its cousin, Inquiry.
Activity 6: My proposal: The building of a Virtual Library Collection Guide
Construct a huge Google Site Guide for all types of libraries
Possible assignments:
One individual investigation and product
One curated product
Two collaborative products
We would need about 3 web designers
We'd look at patron needs, technology, systems, OERs, databases, the collaborative community, "LIB Guides," the OPAC as a collaborative conversation, ebooks, other virtual collections, connections of all kinds, services in the virtual space, and anything else you can think of.
One of the project might be you building an actual virtual library or prototype.
