Welcome to Infinity Odyssey - a Dungeons & Dragons campaign played over a dedicated discord channel, using text and assorted bots/third party software.
As a campaign, Infinity Odyssey will be rather unlike most normal D&D campaigns. Instead of a typical fantasy world to explore and adventure in, the setting of the campaign will be the vast Astral Sea - a space beyond spaces. In Astral Sea, the various planets and planes of the universe exist as a whole, floating in their suspended wildspace bubbles. Travel between these worlds is done via spelljammer ships - various nautical vessels powered by spelljamming helms and other contraptions. Indeed, Infinity Odyssey is a Spelljammer campaign - though it will not follow the "official" Spelljammer or D&D multiverse lore. Instead, the universe set before players is a homebrewed one. One can indeed forget the official worlds of Faerun, Eberron and so forth, because those will not be found within this multiverse. Same goes for the typical gods, cultures and places of species.
As a player, you will take the role of a prisoner on an unknown spelljammer vessel. You were abducted from your home world and imprisoned, along with strange creatures from worlds beyond your own. However, when the vessel you are on gets involved in a battle, you and a handful of other prisoners make your daring escape, only to find yourself in a world you have never known before. Gone is the material plane you are familiar with - instead what awaits you is the expanse of Astral Sea and its many, many locations.
Your goal is to find a way home - and perhaps adventure, riches and mysteries along the way. However, the Astral Sea is massive - perhaps infinite. And though you may find helpful souls to explain where you are at the moment, you have no idea where your homeworld is. It would take centuries or more to even begin searching. However, there exists a legend of the first vessel to sail the Astral Sea - the Spelljammer itself. It is a ship said to respond to the wishes of it's crew, and thus, if you were to ever find it, finding a way back home would not be a far-fetched idea at all.
However, it will take guts and dedication to find this legendary ship. The road between the stars is long, and you - along with your companions - have much to learn in order to become a spelljammer crew competent enough to catch up to your ultimate goal. This is where the bulk of the adventure will unfold, of course. Traveling the Astral Sea, landing on new and mysterious worlds, finding exotic locations, meeting weird creatures and fighting the many dangers of the starlight ocean.
Space is yours to conquer.
As a D&D Roleplay, Infinity Odyssey will, of course, feature a wide range of character options you can play as. However, thanks to its all-encompassing setting, there is no real restrictions when it comes to character race, class, etc. At least all the official books can be used, and if you have any ideas outside of the official material, such as 3rd Party content, the GM will be happy to take this into consideration. Some non-official content has also been collected into the "Character Options" page. These are readily available for use, as they specifically tie to the setting of the RP itself.
While you are free to create just about any sort of character you want, there is one thing that's good to keep in mind. That is, whether or not your character is aware of Astral Sea and spelljamming technology itself. To a latter type of character, the idea of sailing the starlight sea and hopping from planet to planet may be far more mundane, and to the former it will be a tale of discovery from the get-go - learning to understand the workings and ins-and-outs of this strange new world they find themselves in. However, even if the whole party is made up of creatures with no previous knowledge of Astral Sea, worry not - they will quickly learn the basics in-character so they aren't caught with their proverbial space-pants down.
As an RP, do not expect Infinite Odyssey to be a straight-up classical fantasy. Indeed, it will lean rather heavily into the more "Anime" side of things, with both how characters tend to look and their personalities and such. Thus, do not be afraid to go a little wild when making your character.
Another thing of note is the theme and style of campaign itself. Rather than high fantasy or low fantasy, Infinity Odyssey could be considered space fantasy, weird fantasy or even a Sword-and-Planet story. To get a good feeling of the atmosphere that the RP will have, think back to stories such as these:
He-Man
Star Wars
Flash Gordon
Thor: Ragnarok
Guardians of the Galaxy
Treasure Planet
Neverending Story
Valérian and Laureline
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!
Undertale/Deltarune
And most importantly:
Kingdom Hearts, with it's world-hopping, fantasy-based adventures.
In other words, there will be comedy, there will be campy moments and there will be silly encounters - but that does not mean that things cannot get serious, dramatic or even sad. The balance of the story will be somewhere firmly in the middle, so do not be afraid of making a character slightly to either side of the spectrum. Your serious character may end up learning how to have fun, or your comedic character may end up finding themselves facing emotional moments. However, the end goal will, of course, be to have a fun, somewhat episodic, roadtrip adventure through fantasy space - and to meet weird and wonderful locations and people along the way.
