EPILOGUE...
Creaking of materials you don't even have a word for. Hum of fires you don't even have a sound for. Sobbing of creatures you don't even have name for. It surrounds you in this miserable dark pit, a prison cell that looks like it's made of insect spit and chitin, surrounding you at all sides. Odd gems suspended in the amorphous walls give an eerie, cold glow that barely illuminates anything. At times, you can hear the footfalls of your captors echo on the cold metal walkways on the deck above. Pressure, like air itself had grown heavy, pressed down on your lungs and your shoulders.
How did you get here?
What feels like mere moments ago, but might as well be weeks, you were at home. In the relative safety of the life you knew. Then, they came. These ships that rode on the clouds. They descended from above like a dark and terrible storm and fell upon that home, turning it into a sea of fire with blazing, deadly lights emanating from their cannons. Monsters unlike anything you had even dreamt took to the grounds, slaying and abducting your kind left and right. You... you were among the unfortunate ones. You got captured. You were knocked out and taken into one of their ships.
And now you're here. In this nightmare.
You've been here for a long time now. Hours, days... maybe even those weeks, yes.
But today, the strange seas outside are different. Usually, you hear nothing from beyond the walls of this ship, of your prison. Just vast emptiness. Sometimes you see the twinkle of the stars through the gaps in the armor plating far above, but only that. Today, however, something is different.
Muffled sounds. Explosions. Roars of the same beasts that kidnapped you.
Something is wrong.
The ship shakes, as if something massive hit it. The creatures around you scream in panic as the vessel tilts.
Another explosion, and this time, you're blinded by the light of it. The shifting walls above are torn apart, and you see something living and massive tear through the ship, as if rending it apart.
But that's not the only thing you see.
You also see one of the monsters... the one with the keys to your cell. A strange, orb-like key but a key nonetheless. They are hit by what looks like a stray arrow... and they stumble backwards, falling into the same hole that was torn into the ship just seconds ago.
They fall. They fall. And they hit the ground.
Right before the door of the massive cell you're in.
And while the others panic, you realize.
This... might be your only chance to ever see your home again.
