Practicum(Internship)
A college course in which a student receives supervised practical training in a specific field of study. This practicum is a summer course that is designed to give Interior Design students a hands-on application of principles, concepts, and theories taught throughout the curriculum. It is also often referred to as an internship.
Intern
A student undergoing supervised practical training.
Faculty Mentor
This is the faculty member that has been assigned as your mentor; see page seven (8). You MUST meet with your mentor to discuss your internship goals PRIOR to accepting any intern position. Your mentor must approve your goals and objectives listed on your application.
Site Coordinator (Business)
This person communicates with the student the practicum coordinator to assist in evaluating the student’s performance. The site coordinator works with students in crafting their Internship Project proposals along with the practicum coordinator. They are essentially the “on-site professor” and are responsible for providing the student with a beneficial learning experience and exposure to the interior design business.
Practicum Coordinator (Faculty)
This person is a member of the faculty who coordinates all the student internships.
