What are Goals and Objectives?

Goals are what you wish to accomplish during your internship. Objectives are what you will do as an intern to be able to achieve the specific goal. When establishing these goals and objectives consider the following:

• What would you like to learn from your internship?

• What obstacles would you like to overcome?

• What are some skills you would like to enhance?

• What real-life situation would you like to experience?

After some thought, now it is time to start compiling a list of possible objectives and/or goals that you want to achieve. Make them practical and realistic. You are required to create three goals with two objectives for each goal. All must be reviewed and approved by your faculty mentor and site Coordinator. Remember all must be met by the end of your internship.

Examples:

• Goal: To gain a better understanding of the construction administrative phase

• Objective: to participate construction/installation site visits

• Objective: Shadow an interior designer during the construction administrative phase
