The democrats won some key races in the November 5, 2025 elections. The governors races in Virginia and New Jersey were both won by Democrats. The California Proposition 50 authorizing redistricting in that state to combat Republican gerrymandering was passed, and the New York Mayoral race was won by Democrat Zohran Mamdani. It appears the current economy was a big issue with voters.
In September, 2025 Jimmy Kimmel’s late night talk show was suspended indefinitely by ABC for comments about Charlie Kirk after FCC Chairman Brendan Carr threatened regulatory action against ABC if Kimmel was not reprimanded. A swift gigantic public backlash by people concerned over the threats to free speech ensued, including boycotts of ABC channels and cancellations of Disney owned streaming services.
