In the summer of 1969, the same summer as the Woodstock Music and Art Fair, another music festival that attracted thousands and thousands of people took place in Mount Morris Park (now Marcus Garvey Park), Harlem, New York. Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson presented a music and history documentary about the epic Harlem Cultural Festival that celebrated Black history, culture and fashion, and brought people together in an unsettling time. The feature included concert performances by Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Sly & the Family Stone, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Mahalia Jackson, B.B. King, The 5th Dimension and more.
