Initially a journalist, Michael Moore created a creative, observational, interactive, and expository documentary exploring capitalism and socio-economic disparity in his hometown Flint, Michigan, after General Motors closed several plants and laid off thousands of workers there in the late 80s. Moore started with the goal to interview GM’s CEO Roger Smith, and even though that goal was never achieved, he was able to portray the American economic culture and the lives of people from different socioeconomic backgrounds in this entertaining non-fiction.
