Never volunteered for the Independence Bands Program before? There is a lot going on and we understand it can be confusing! While some things tend to stay the same from year-to-year, other things change with the new Marching Band Program. The good news is, seasoned Booster members are here to help! Just remember, we've been in your shoes as a newbie volunteer and we are happy to have you participate in the community however you are able.
Ride buses with students and carry first aid kit. Keep track of how many students are on your bus and ensure you take home the same kids that rode the bus to an event. Students should check they have their equipment, respect bus rules, and clean up after themselves. After students leave the bus, check the bus for lost items and trash.
You keep the team looking and smelling great! Requires a dedication to organization, plume handling, alteration, cleaning, ironing, Febreze misting, and extra-sock toting.
You're dedicated to keeping the students fueled for competition. You'll love slinging pizza, tossing out candy and snacks, and optimistically offering a selection of fruit. Keep the kids hydrated and make sure we leave an area cleaner than we found it.
Drive rental truck with hydraulic lift or SUV with a trailer to Marching Band competitions. You'll look like a boss behind the wheel!
There would be no show without you! Load trucks and trailer before Marching Band competitions. Meet trucks at the event site, unload trucks and trailer, help move equipment onto and off of the field, and load props and instruments back onto the trucks after the competition. Meet the trucks and trailers back at IHS after the competition and unload equipment.
Are you a great writer or editor? Do you have a passion for creating graphics, taking photos, and recording and/or editing video? Would you enjoy engaging with our sponsors or alumni, or keeping our community and media informed? If so, we need you! We'd love to have you create content to promote our activities and engage our audiences.
Are you creative? Is Bob Villa your idol? Help design and construct bespoke props for the Marching Band. Consider joining Pit Crew so you can admire the props of the other Marching Band teams up close.
This is THE IHS Bands fundraiser for the year! Tag Day Drivers should have a cell phone, full tank of gas, first aid kit, and extra water in their cars. Students should work in groups of at least two, and drivers should have students within sight. Provide guidance to students when needed.
Do you love to throw parties? Organize Senior Night (October) and annual end-of-year banquet (May).
Second biggest fundriaser for the year! All sales are handled online. Volunteers are needed to help organize the event, advertise the event within your community, or help with sorting and local distribution. Orders made more than 5 miles from Independence will be delivered by mail; the company delivers nationally.
If you've got a creative idea on how to raise money for Independence Bands, we would love to hear it! BoosterFundraising@ihsbands.org
Nothing feels greater to the kids than hearing your love and appreciation in the stands or in the auditorium! Wear Independence Band Spiritwear, hang out with other Booster Members, get ready to cheer on the IHS Marching Band, Concert Band, and Winter Guard.
