Blur Classification Guidelines

Intentional Blur refers to artistic or stylistic use of blur

This includes:

    • Bokeh (dramatically out-of-focus background)
    • Intentional motion blur (blurred person, un-blurred background)
    • Depth-of-field (blurred foreground + background to draw attention to subject)

Unintentional Blur refers to unwanted or unappealing blur

This includes:

    • Camera shake (whole image is blurred in one general direction)
    • Entire photo out of focus (strawberry picture)
    • Subject of photo out of focus (picture of man in pub, bottom right)
