How will I be assessed?
You will learn how to: develop your reading skills through ‘Scanning’, develop your word use and language skills, how to research, carrying out research, accuracy of research, answering and asking good questions, and delivering presentations focusing on the tone of your delivery (speaking skills), body language, self and peer evaluation.
You will undertake knowledge tests and quizzes to help secure your knowledge. In addition, we will practice key history skills of extended writing, source evaluation and interpretation analysis.
How will this prepare me for my next steps?
History is the study of the people of the world. We are individuals within that world. Through the study of History, you can better understand the world that you live in and place that you hold within the world. History skills are life skills, they are transferable to all walks of life, and all subjects across the curriculum.
You will learn fascinating, dynamic and vital information about the world and the people and environment around us. If you are interested in how the earth works and are concerned about what’s in store for the planet, then Geography is the subject to study. The major topics are:
Hazards – Volcanoes, Earthquakes and Tectonics. This part of the course gives you information about the tremendous forces that lie beneath our feet and can be unleashed in devastatingly spectacular natural disasters.
Development – The incredible difference in wealth between the richest and poorest countries in the world.
Resources – Water, soil, energy and food are vital for the future of the human race. In this unit each is investigated, using video, texts, diagrams and statistics. We have a particular focus on fossil fuels and renewable energies.
Place Studies – an important part of Geography is looking at particular areas on the earth’s surface. We investigate the Middle East and Russia – their peoples, culture, wildlife, characteristics and conflicts.
The World of Work – We look at the changing world of work – a subject closely linked to Liverpool, our case study, which has seen major changes in its history; from world famous port to world famous tourist attraction.

There will be a variety of assessments regular quiz assessments, individual and group projects covering all four skills Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing.
How will this prepare you for your next steps?
Geography is a great all-round subject for whatever career option you plan; or if you don’t know what you want to do but love learning about the world around us – you will love studying Geography.
You will have a taste of learning Spanish Language and Culture covering a variety of current international topics such as employment, health, environment, tourism and festivals. You will also learn about communities, traditions and festivals from Spanish Speaking Countries around the world.
