Meetify

The project overview

Meetify is a mobile application that aims to simplify the process of finding event partners or buddies for various activities such as concerts, movie premieres, and sports games. By connecting users with like-minded individuals who are available to attend the event, Meetify helps users create meaningful connections and shared experiences.

The goal

The goal of Meetify is to eliminate the stress and hassle of finding a companion for an event by providing a platform where users can easily connect with others who share similar interests and availability. By facilitating these connections, Meetify aims to enhance the overall event experience for users and foster new relationships and friendships.

Problem Statement:

Many individuals struggle to find event partners to accompany them to various activities, leading to missed opportunities and a lack of shared experiences. Traditional methods of finding companions can be time-consuming and inefficient, making it difficult for users to connect with like-minded individuals. Meetify addresses this problem by providing a user-friendly and streamlined platform for users to easily find event partners and create meaningful connections.

Design process:

Discover

To develop a deep understanding of the user challenge, pain points and need, I empathized with the users to gather users data through research, survey and interview

User research

User research was carried out to put the users at the center while creating solutions. Users were first recruited using screener survey after which they were interviewed

Screener survey was carried out to recruit participant that would fall in the target users category. This survey was carried out to ensure that real solutions are created for target users.

After empathizing with user, through user research and collecting data, I clearly analyzed the findings to articulate
or arrive at a problem statement or users problem to solve.

Aggegated empathy map

Aggregated empathy map is created by combining the insights gathered from different users and synthesizing the observation to gain better understanding of their painpoints, thoughts and their feelings

Ideate

After users problem have been identified in the define phase, i brainstormed to come up with potential solutions for solving the problems using user journey map and user flow

Prototype

To test all of the solutions i realized for the users problem, series of low fidelity wireframe and high fidelity protoypes were were designed

Test

User testing was carried out after prototyping which involved a continous short cycle innovation process to continously improve my design and therefore improving user experience

Useability testing

Userability of three features of the Meetify app was carried out with 4 participants

Search for a available nearby friend
Create an event you wish to go to allow others join
Search for event to connect with participants post event

Each session with every participants took 30 minutes and was conducted in a moderated way

Useability testing results

Unable to search for nearby friends- users need a more clearifying icons to be a able to find nearby available friends
Users looked confused on the former interface- Need a clearer map representation on the interface to know what it relly means

After usability study, prototype was adjusted. A location icon was added to the navigation menu and map was added to the interface for better representation which ease the search of nearby friends by users

Home Screen

Use the home screen for an easy start. Search for event, check event categories, Check recommended events based on your interest. Select the event you which to attend if available to connect with attendes before event.

Event Details Screen

Sellect event to see full event details such as description about the event, the location of event, and number of people that have already showed interest in attending the event. Users can return to home screen by cliking “Not going”

Message Screens

Meetify has a feature that automatically add participants to an event group after which they have showned interest. This allows user to build rapport and connect with themselves before event. -

Find Nearby Friends Screens

Nearby Users who made thmselves available for event can be found on map. Users profile can be checked and user can be contacted via call, message or video call to built a healthy relatinship prior to going event.

Feed Screens

Users can keep or share their memory after, or during event to keep their event momments and can be revisited.

Accessibility & Consideration

To allow users grasp the experience of the app very well, detailed images were used
Buttons are kept in dimension of 128px by 56 px to ensure that they are easy to interact with on mobile phone
Selected actions are made more visible on the screens to help users keep aware of their actions
To improve readability, colors that are chosen meet the AA annd AAA requirements

Lessons learnt & next step

Lessons

Working on this case study has given me a lot of very interesting experience. Research process is a tedious process as well as a tool in making sure I arrived at a design that eventually solves users problem.
Following the design process right from the onset to the end of this project enabled me to finally arrived at a product that is useful, useable and equitable for user

Next step

Base on the feedback from user, my next step on this project would be iterations and improvement on the app. It was observe that users are expecting more features in addition to the present ones which include filter option for easy search.
