ZAINUL ABDEEN KHAN

Dr. Zainul is currently working as Dr. D. S. Kothari Post-Doctoral Fellow on UGC funded project “Engineering of CRISPR/Cas9-mediated resistance against okra infecting begomoviruses”. He joined our lab in 2017 as National Post-Doctoral Fellow on SERB (DST, Govt. of India) funded project “Transcript Mapping of Mesta Yellow vein mosaic virus and Its Cognate Betasatellite”. He did his Ph.D. entitled “Molecular Characterization of Cotton leaf curl virus (CLCuV) Promoter” in Plant Virology in 2016. He worked on the viruses infecting cotton, okra (family Malvaceae), chilli (family Solanaceae) and cucurbits (family Cucurbitaceae) plants. He isolated and characterized a novel constitutive bidirectional plant promoter from Cotton leaf curl Burewala virus. He isolated and characterize a novel begomovirus species infecting chilli in India.
