Kodai-Ji Temple is a temple of the Rinzai sect (one of the Buddhist religions) in Kyoto city. It was founded in 1605 by Nene, the wife of the late Hideyoshi Toyotomi. Due to political considerations, the temple was financially supported by Ieyasu Tokugawa, and its spectacular was magnificent, but some buildings have been lost due to fires that have occurred frequently since 1789. Some of the remaining buildings have been designated as national important cultural properties by the Japanese Government.
