York RLFC has three main options open to disabled young people and adults (minimum age 12) amongst the various other programmes we offer. We achieve this by adapting the traditional 13 a-side game and believe in being as inclusive as possible. We have an established Learning Disability Rugby League team (LDSL), a Wheelchair Rugby League team and aspirations for Physical Disability Rugby League team.

York City FC is proud to announce a familiarisation session for individuals of all abilities and conditions, with a focus on making everyone feel included in our community. It is aimed at supporters who may have previously hesitated to visit the LNER Community Stadium. We are committed to ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the excitement of sports in a welcoming and supportive environment.
You will have the chance to explore the stadium with the guidance of our club staff and volunteers. You will be led along a designated quiet route into the stadium, and we will show you the locations of key facilities such as toilets and concession stands. Additionally, we will take you to various areas of the stadium, allowing you to experience different entry and exit points as well as different viewing spots. Our goal is to help you find the best areas that suit your specific needs and preferences.
Our primary objective is to create a warm and inclusive environment for all fans, ensuring that every individual, regardless of their abilities or conditions, can partake in the joy of sports. We hope that this familiarisation session will provide a positive and comfortable experience for those who attend, ultimately encouraging them to return for a match in the future.

Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland, York Designer Outlet, St Nicholas Ave, York YO19 4TA (situated at South Entrance at the rear). Reach by car or No 7 bus from the city centre and follow the yellow directional signs!
First 20 people pay £5 each; then cost rises to £14:50 per person. Carers are free – up to 2 per skater.
We have EXCLUSIVE use of the Ice for 1 hour. Winter Wonderland Ice Marshalls will be on hand to help everyone skate safely. Anyone not wanting to skate can still go on the ice in a manual wheelchair with a carer to assist. If you fancy skating but aren’t sure of your balance, Winter Wonderland have Penguin or Snowman buddies to help keep you upright.
As it’s an open-air rink, session may be cancelled if either too much rain or too sunny. Wrap up warm with layered clothing, thick socks and hats (hoods not allowed) and bring spare clothing.
On-site café for hot drinks, hot food and cakes.

A series of FREE workshops will take place between December 2023 and April 2024. Workshops on Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th December 2023 (venue and timings not available at time of going to press) are aimed specifically at Blue Badge holders and will focus on enabling Blue Badge access to the city. Later workshops will be open to disabled and non-disabled residents and will be part of a wider Local Transport Strategy Consultation, focused on shaping an accessible city centre for all and improving access to Blue Badge Holders in the longer-term.

City of York Council is commissioning an independent access consultant to consider how best to support Blue Badge Holders access the city centre again. Further workshops in February and April will consider additional aspects of accessibility for all disabled residents and visitors.
The Council is keen to listen and learn from the disabled community. Your lived experiences and thoughts about how to shape a more accessible city centre are crucial.
The workshops will be run by independent access consultants (details still to be finalised at time of going to print) with the aim of being fully accessible.
