The SPRINGFIELD EXPLORER is Springfield's unique take on the Student Initiated Learning (SIL) program!
Modeled after the Ministry of Education's SIL initiative, this program aims to nurture learners to become independent and passionate about lifelong learning. Through SPRINGFIELD EXPLORER, students take charge of their learning journeys by cultivating curiosity, engaging in self-discovery, and embracing a love of learning.
Students are provided with a lesson template in the Student Learning Space (SLS) and will explore SIL through one of four domains: Heart, Body, Mind, and Spirit. Below is a brief synopsis and some examples for each domain to offer clarity and inspiration.

Students are not graded on what they learn in Springfield Explorer. This approach aims to motivate learning by shifting the focus away from grades, allowing students to explore their interests and develop intrinsic motivation.
At the end of their Springfield Explorer journeys in Term 4, students will document their experiences through photographs, videos, and annotations. They will upload them together with their personal reflections onto SLS and have the opportunity to showcase their learning to peers.
