Conference Topics

The conference topics will include ternary and multinary compounds with different chemistries and structures:

Chemistries: chalcogenides (I-III-VI2, I2-II-IV-VI4 etc), oxides (ABO3, A2BO4, ABO2 etc), pnictides (II-IV-V2 etc), nitrides, hallides, mixed-anion compounds

Structures: chalcopyrites, sphalerites, inorganic perovskites, wurtzites, kesterites, skutterudites, pyrites, stibnites, chalcostibites, argyrodites, tetradymites, off-stoichiometric compounds, low-dimensional materials

The topics will also include methods used to study multinary materials, and the material's use in a wide range of applications:

Methods: Synthesis and characterization (in particular non-equilibrium synthesis); theory and computation (in particular self-consistent hybrid and GW calculations); materials design and materials genome; in-situ and operando methods; data mining and machine learning

Applications: photovoltaic and photoelectrochemical absorbers, including wider bandgap materials for tandem and multi-junction solar cells, thermoelectrics, superconductors, batteries, fuel cells, light-emitters, ferroelectrics, piezoelectrics, multiferroics, phase-change materials, catalysis, energy storage, topological insulators, quantum materials

This year, particular focus will be places on the special topic of Metastable materials in the space of ternary and multinary compounds:

Metastable materials: non-equilibrium synthesis of metastable materials, structural polymorphs, semiconductor alloys, metastable defects, thermodynamic and kinetic calculations
