This is the "big" year - the one that counts the most on your path to college. Make sure you take courses that challenge you and that you do your best in them. Continue your involvement with extracurricular activities, take on leadership roles, look for competitions to participate in. Take the SAT, ACT, and/or SAT Subject Tests. Consider other testing options. For those of you planning to apply early decision or early action, your grades this year will be what the admissions committees will be looking at closely.

- Meet with us to get our suggestions and discuss your college plans, testing status, academic readiness.
- Continue in your co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
- Apply for a leadership position in your favorite activity.
- Take the PSAT/NMSQT in October- Prepare and study for the exam! This exam can be very important to your future college career and can even qualify you to attend college for free at some schools. Depending on how you score on the PSAT, you may qualify as a National Merit Scholar. If you end up being a semi-finalist or finalist, you will qualify for some scholarships at certain schools. Some of these scholarships can allow you to attend a school for free. Don't underestimate the importance of this test!
- To prepare for the PSAT, practice for the SAT through books, on-line sources, or tutors. Take the PSAT with confidence in October, and then plan to take the SAT. You can take the SAT at any point during your Junior year.
- Meet with us, visit your College Counseling Center, and begin narrowing down a list of colleges.
- Visit college websites and/or write for catalogues. Call for visits and overnights.
- Begin researching scholarships and financial aid.
- Ask teachers for Recommendations in April.
- Participate in research opportunities and other special programs.
- Review your high school record for incorrect grades.
- Choose challenging courses for your senior year.
- Take the ACT and SAT II exams.
- Continue to assess colleges- visit during school holidays and summer.
