The NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) is the governing body of small athletic programs. As stated on the NAIA website, “the NAIA has administered championships and programs in proper balance with the overall college educational experience.” Here is a list of NAIA colleges. If you want to participate in a sport at a NAIA college, you must first register with the NAIA. Colleges that are members of the NAIA can offer financial aid to athletes and follow different recruiting rules. The financial aid allowed varies by sport. Many of these colleges offer less intense athletic programs, which may allow for a better balance between athletics and academics. It is one more option for the student that wants to continue to participate in athletics at college.
