Field Trips, Guest Speakers, and Workshops
The Summer Institute students will attend workshops, field trips, and tours to various industries around the Albuquerque area. The hosts include Sandia National Labs, University of New Mexico and more, these field trips allow the students to gain better insight into professional settings in their respected fields and allows the students to be more aware of the different opportunities these institutions and laboratories have to offer.

CNM Makerspace Tour
Students participating in the First Joint SIPI and NTU Advanced Manufacturing Technology Summer Institute visited the New Mexico MakerSpace small business incubation facility on July 7, 2017.
Students visited the MakerSpace small business incubation facility where they got to see specialty equipment such as a snow board press, plasma cutter, diamond cutters and laser engravers.
Summer Institute Program student Anthony Horning says "It was nice to see the facility and their different tools, I think as engineering majors we are more likely to start our own businesses and it was a good opportunity to get a peek into what those small businesses might look like."

UNM 2017 Summer Biomedical Research Symposium
The students who are participating in the First TCU Advanced Manufacturing Technology Summer Institute (AMTSI) and the SIPI Pre-engineering program's award-wining NASA Swarmathon Team, were invited to the UNM 2017 Summer Biomedical Research Symposium. The AMTSI team demonstrated their final projects such as Jerry the Drone, the Amazon Alexa-based SIPI Recruitment and Outreach Vehicle ( ROV-S), RoadRunner Educational Rover Series , and NASA Swarmies. Five tribal colleges and universities, SIPI, NTU, Turtle Mountain, Salish Kootenai, and Cankdeska Cikana, were represented at the UNM event.
