Introduction

Welcome to 8th grade math! At IBCS, we offer a standard curriculum (IM8) as well as an accelerated curriculum (IM1) for our 8th graders. Mr. Maxwell and I work closely together to make sure that every student is placed in the appropriate curriculum to get the most out of their 8th grade math experience.

It is no secret that math is a hard subject for many students. In addition to the difficulty of the subject, your brain is growing faster than ever, which can be very exciting but also confusing. You have a million things to worry about, so why make math one of them?

My goal isn't to produce the next generation of mathematicians (although I would love for that to happen!). Instead, I want you to become more comfortable with math so by the time you get to high school, it doesn't feel like trying to learn a new language. Math is going to show up for the rest of your life, whether you like it or not, so there is no better time than right now to get better at it!
