"The rich history of this venerable 120+ year old residence lay hidden beneath layers of ill-advised renovations and neglected areas. However, our keen eye recognized its hidden potential, and we embarked on a mission to salvage its intrinsic beauty. Preserving the historical essence was paramount as we undertook the task of rejuvenating this dwelling.

Our design philosophy sought to harmonize the modern with the original, paying homage to the home's authentic character. The home's unique circumstances dictated that the entrance be situated at the rear due to the absence of front parking. We transformed the back of the house into a warm and inviting entryway, framed by reclaimed native timber that once formed an exterior wall, now extending a welcoming embrace to all who step into this historic abode.

In our endeavor to modernize while preserving, we ingeniously crafted a dedicated laundry space and entryway by adding a wall. Upon crossing the threshold, one is immediately greeted by the kitchen—a bright and inviting space. We designed a seating area at the island, crowned with an exquisite, active granite countertop and adorned with cabinets in a fresh, modern navy hue. To maximize the sense of spaciousness in the room, we extended the cabinets to the soaring 10-foot ceilings, drawing the eye upward to the exquisite woodwork adorning every doorway. Throughout the home, the resurfaced original hardwood floors effortlessly reflected light, preserving a sense of brightness. Glass backsplashes further contributed to the airy ambiance.

The open floor plan seamlessly connects the kitchen to the dining room, bathed in natural light and adorned with a modern chandelier. Beyond lies the inviting living room, featuring ample and comfortable seating. Just inside the original 42-inch-wide solid wood front door, you'll find the parlor—a perfect setting for cherished Christmas mornings. The panoramic window nook in the parlor is the ideal spot for the Christmas tree, and the meticulously crafted historic staircase frames this picturesque space as you enter through the front door.

In our pursuit of blending modern amenities with historic charm, we diligently crafted a master suite on the main floor. This essential addition features a spacious walk-in closet and an ensuite master bathroom. The master bath boasts floor-to-ceiling ceramic tile in the shower and a vintage-inspired painted vanity, staying true to the era of the home. Upstairs, the original wood flooring on the second floor was lovingly refreshed, and the upstairs bathroom underwent a complete transformation. The end result is four bedrooms, two full baths, and a powder room, in this breathtaking historic home that seamlessly marries the comforts of modern living with the timeless allure of a bygone era."
