The dormitory of the institute. In Jiji Township, there is a native species called the Lasius niger formosanus. Although it is not aggressive, it tends to enter indoor spaces after detecting the smell of food. Therefore, please store food in sealed containers whenever possible.
Dorm and Hotels
Jiji is a small township. Fortunately, it is close to a famous attraction, Sun-Moon Lake. There are hotels and many B&Bs near Jiji Township. The institute also has some dorms free of charge. Some places might be far from the institute, so we will arrange buses to pick up people who stay there. In Taiwan, both Visa and MasterCard are accepted, but Visa is generally more commonly used. The following table presents the dorm or hotels we suggest. The price was recorded in October 2024. Clicking the hotel names will redirect you to the hotel's website. The Agoda website may offer more competitive prices and is easier to navigate in English. We also included the hotel's Agoda page in the rightmost column, although most of them were unavailable for booking in January 2025.

Meals
Many restaurants in JiJi provide meals at affordable prices for dinner. The 7-ELEVEN store, open 24 hours a day, offers coffee and various snacks. Some local restaurants do not accept credit cards, so bringing cash of around NTD 2,000 (USD 62) is advisable. This amount should be sufficient to live comfortably for three days in this small town with reasonable spending.
