We have prepared three options for you to choose from, all scheduled for October 16, 2025. Please select the location you prefer. Participants who join the field trip will need to pay an additional fee of 27-150 USD to cover transportation and lunch costs.

Sun-Link-Sea Forest Recreation Area
Sun-Link-Sea Forest Recreation Area is located in Nantou County, which extends between 1600 and 1800 meters in elevation. It preserves the original natural features. It is cloudy and windy all year round, and the landscape is fickle and sunny. The annual average temperature is about 20 degrees Celsius, and the seasons are suitable for vacation.
We will take you to The Songlong Rock Waterfall. It is well renowned as the "Best Scenery of Sun-Link-Sea", owing to its majestic and beautiful scenery. The waterfall tumbles, splashes, and thunders in the rainy season, creating countless scenes and atmospheres. Here, the surrounding big trees and quiet valleys form a secluded and mysterious land full of vitality and biodiversity.
There is a special bryophyte, Bryoxiphium norvegicum subsp. japonicum, growth just beside the waterfall. There is a trail to go to the highest point of Sun-Link-Sea, "Tian-Ti-Yan". Along the trail, you will find many bryophytes, including Sphagnum junghuhnianum. If you look carefully, you can find Zoopsis liukiuensis growing on bark of Cryptomeria. The mid-elevation in Taiwan breeds many kinds of bryophytes. We hope you enjoy this trail and find bryophytes you have never seen before.

Schedule
16 October:
08:30 Taiwan Biodiversity Research Institute. Take a rented bus.
↓
10:00 Arrive at Sun-Link-Sea Forest Recreation Area. Store luggage. Take a shuttle bus.
↓
10:30 Arrive trailhead of Tian-Ti-Yan Trail and investigate around the trail. For hiking this trail, it takes around 1 hour.
↓
12:00 Lunch (we will prepare the lunch box).
↓
13:30 Meet at the trailhead of Tian-Ti-Yan Trail. Investigate another trail, the Leshan Trail, just beside the Tian-Ti-Yan Trail. For hiking, this trail takes around 30 minutes. Meet at the end of the trail, which has a Floral Center.
↓
15:30 Visit the Floral Center.
↓
16:10 Meet in the front door of the Floral Center. Take a shuttle bus back to the Sun-Link-Sea Forest Recreation Area hotel.
↓
16:30 Arrive at the hotel. Take a rest.
↓
18:00 Dinner.
↓

08:30 Meet at the front door of the hotel

08:40 Arrive at the trailhead of the Taiwan Rhododendron forest trail. Investigate this trail. For hiking, it usually takes around 1 hour.

11:40 Meet at the trailhead of the Taiwan Rhododendron forest trail, then back to the hotel.
↓
12:00 Lunch(we will prepare)
↓
01:00 Meet at the hotel's front door and investigate the Chinglong Waterfall trail. For hiking, this trail usually takes around 1 hour.
↓
03:30 Meet at the front door of the hotel. Take a rented bus.
↓
17:20 Arrive at Taiwan High-Speed Rail Taichung Station.
