Laboratory investigations are essential for almost every patient who comes into contact with the hospitals and an increasing number of patients receiving treatment in the community. More than 75% of all medical diagnosis rely on laboratory investigations.
All tests done by Pathology Department, HUS are confidential between the department and clients. Information pertaining to patients are kept confidential and treated in an impartial and non-discriminatory manner.
Personnel are not allowed to disclose any information that can destitute the safety and confidential of test work. All Pathology Department staff are subject to the Government Confidentiality Act.
Results will be released to the Fiscisient Web Nursing Station via Laboratory Information System (LIS) after validation except for confidential result. Please contact the laboratory administration for access if required.
Confidential results, including HIV tests, will be emailed to external requestors. For internal requestors, reactive or indeterminate results will be printed and sent to the ID Clinic. Non-reactive HIV results can be collected in person from the Microbiology Reception Counter upon request. Requestors must record details such as patient name, ID, location, and personnel collecting the result in the HIV results collection book at the counter.
During down time/system off-line, hardcopy of all results will be made available for collection.
Hardcopy report will be made available for external clients upon request, otherwise report will be sent through email to respective laboratory hospital.
All the outsource results will be uploaded into LIS manually in pdf form and can be viewed through Fiscisient Web Nursing Station .
Results exceeding critical limit or findings will be notified to the clinician.
Any discrepancy between clinical findings and report/results should be conveyed immediately to relevant Pathology personnel.
