Residents of Graduate Residence Hall are expected to create reservations, arrive, and depart their visitors through the Hofstra Housing Portal.
Residents and their visitors will receive confirmation emails of their reservations. They must present their confirmation email to any Hofstra administrator at any time, including Public Safety Officers, Resident Directors, Resident Assistants, and RSR staff. Please note that failure to properly register a visitor or present a valid confirmation email will be considered a violation of the guest policy.
The Living Factor states that "Guests of residents may remain overnight for no longer than three consecutive nights and six nights total in a semester but not without prior approval from the resident’s roommate(s) and suitemate(s) (if applicable). ... Residential students may sign in only three (3) guests at a time. Failure to abide by these policies, procedures, and regulations will result in an initial warning. A second violation will result in an automatic fine in the amount of $100. Students with a third violation will be referred to the Office of Community Standards and may result in additional fines and/or indefinite revocation of guest privileges in Hofstra’s residence halls and complexes."
Visitor reservations can only be made online for visitors 18 and older. Reservations for minors must be requested by emailing RSR@Hofstra.edu.
Sign in to your Hofstra Housing Portal. Go to the Visitors module from the top menu bar.
Note: A new reservation must be made for each visit before the visitor can be marked as arrived.
New Visitor
Click “Add New Visitor”, then “Add Visitor.”
Enter the visitor’s information and select “Save and Continue.”
Upload a photo of the entire front of the visitor’s ID, then select “Save and Continue.”
Select the visitor’s Arrival and Departure dates and times, as well as the Visitor Type, and select “Save and Continue.”
Review the confirmation details.
Select “Return to Visitors Main Page.”
(You will mark the visitor as arrived once they arrive.)
Returning Visitor
Select the three dots under the Visitor Actions column.
Choose “Reserve Again.”
Select the visitor’s Arrival and Departure dates and times and Visitor Type.
Click “Save and Continue.”
Click the link under Visitor Check In.
Select “Continue.”
Enter the visitor’s Visitor ID and select “Save & Continue.”
Confirm the visitor and select “Check In Visitor.”
Click “Visitor Check Out”.
Enter the visitor’s Visitor ID.
Select “Save & Continue.”
Confirm and select “Check Out Visitor.”
Select the three dots under the Visitor Actions column.
Choose “Cancel Visit” or the appropriate edit option and follow the prompts.
