Salvia urica

We obtained seeds for this salvia from Rolando Uria. It grows readily from seed. Per information from Flowers by the Sea, Salvia urica "is native to moist, mountainous jungles in Chiapas, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala and Honduras where it grows at altitudes from 1,000 to 8,500 feet. So it appreciates partial shade and moisture." In our first summer of growing this in 2022, we placed it in morning sun and afternoon shade. In our second summer of growing this in 2023, we placed this in morning shade and afternoon sun. The plant flowered equally well in either location. With the closure of Flowers by the Sea, we are not aware that this is available to purchase as a plant. One may be able to find seeds on Ecrater.Â
