A hummingbird gardening friend of ours in Milwaukee was lucky enough to host a hatch year Anna's hummingbird for over one month in the fall of 2016. In fact, the hummingbird stayed into the month of December. Jim Edlhuber is an excellent nature photographer. His website is at:

Note the red feather behind the eye. When this bird is an adult male, his entire head will be red. Also note that the bird is banded.
