2005 Black Earth Selasphorus

On October 29, 2005, we travelled from Madison to Black Earth, WI to see this selasphorus hummingbird that had been present since October 25, 2005. There is a hint of a central gorget spot in this photo. At other times in the late afternoon with the sun low in the sky, we saw a brilliant gorget flash from the central throat area. This second photo below, although out of focus, shows the rufous color in the tail and white tips of R3 through R5. We assume that this is an immature rufous, likely a female.
