James Brown Family Foundation

James Brown was a man who made it his goal to help underprivileged children and destitute families. He created and assisted in several charitable or educational programs. The annual James Brown Thanksgiving Turkey and the Holiday Toy giveaways are two programs that are managed by his foundation, the "James Brown Family Foundation."

The foundation was created in 2006, after James Brown's death. His children run the organization to build upon his legacy by helping and assisting the less fortunate. Their two main programs are the Turkey Giveaway and the Holiday Toy Giveaway. The programs are in many communities throughout the country, but was founded in Augusta in the 1990's. They serve over 300 families each year in their turkey giveaway.

The Holiday Toy Giveaway has been providing for the children of Augusta for over 25 years. In 2018, they took over 900 applications to provide presents for children during Christmas time. That number has increased by 200 applicants from 2017.
