On Tyranny

We will review and discuss this urgent and increasingly relevant guide by Timothy Snyder which gives a concise offering of 20 historical lessons on resisting authoritarianism. Drawing on twentieth-century Europe, Snyder urges vigilance, defending democratic institutions, rejecting passive compliance, preserving truth, and engaging actively in civic life to prevent democracy from sliding into tyranny. All are welcome to participate.

Who Was Jesus, Really?

As we approach Christmas time, lets explore the traditional understanding of Jesus of Nazareth by examining when he was born, what he may have looked like, and the sources that recount his life. Participants will consider modern scholarly perspectives, consider whether the Star of Bethlehem reflects a real event, and better understand why Christmas is celebrated on December 25th. All are welcome to participate!
