Spring internships are currently being posted by employers, and we will post information as it becomes available. Please check back regularly in September and October for additional Spring internship opportunities.
Although the below resources are a starting place in your search, all internships must be approved by the Human Biology Program director in order to be eligible for credit. Students can also search for internships using the following resources: the Career Center, Handshake, the Pre-Health listserv, and their own online searches. We are regularly updating this internship list, so check often for additional opportunities.
Spring 2026 Internship Opportunities
Description:
The Human Biology Program is proud to partner with NewYork-Presbyterian Queens to provide internships to current Hunter College students through their internship program. Interns will offer their time, talent, and dedication throughout the hospital in patient care and clerical settings, providing an extra dimension of services to patients and families.
Students will receive a certificate of completion upon completion of this internship. Students who complete this internship with a strong performance may also request a recommendation letter from their internship supervisor.
Eligibility:
Students will need to be able to dedicate 10 hours a week, Monday through Friday, during the spring, summer, and fall 2026 semesters beginning January 26, 2026.
Students must be able to register for a 3-credit Human Biology internship course (HMBIO 40303) in spring 2026.
Students must have met with an advisor in the Career Center to have their resumes reviewed.
Students will be required to provide medical documentation (see application for more information).
Students will need to be available to attend an interview with the Human Biology Program Director.
Students must be graduating Fall 2026 or after.

The LifeSci NYC Internship Program offers the chance to complete a single application to gain access to paid internship and job opportunities at dozens of NYC life science companies and organizations. Undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at universities in NYC, as well as NYC residents enrolled at universities anywhere are eligible to apply. Recent graduates (spring 2024 or later) also qualify. Students from all majors are eligible, as a wide range of science, tech and business roles are offered. Description:
The PlayReadVIP in the Department of Pediatrics at NYU Grossman School of Medicine is a team that examines parenting interventions designed to improve child development outcomes in underserved populations (PI: Dr. Alan Mendelsohn). They have openings for Spring 2026 interns (unpaid) to join the team at the Translational Research Building (227 E 30th St) and/or NYC Health + Hospitals/ Bellevue in Manhattan.
Research-focused internship: You will be involved in a randomized controlled trial or other similar research projects related to parenting interventions in our lab. Examples include Smart Beginnings (in collaboration with NYU Steinhardt and the University of Pittsburgh) and SPARRK (in collaboration with Michigan State University in Flint, MI). This may include outreach with participants, supporting various data coding, transcription, and organizational tasks.
Program-focused internship: You will be part of the PlayReadVIP. PlayReadVIP is a parent education program that is offered as part of well-child pediatric care. You will have the opportunity to help with recruitment into the program through outreach with patients and hospital staff across various early childhood and maternal health initiatives, organize materials for program delivery, and assist with data entry to help maintain program databases, and observe program sessions. You may have opportunities to visit other sites in NYC.
All interns will have the opportunity to learn about developmental/pediatric research, the interventions offered, and interact with an interdisciplinary team of researchers and clinical staff. In addition, your responsibilities may include providing childcare during assessments and intervention sessions; preparing materials for assessments and VIP sessions; administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and video copying; scheduling and tracking participants; assistance with other operational aspects of the study.
Please note that a minimum commitment of 8 hours per week for a full semester is required (hours must beon weekdays between 9 and 5)

Have some background in psychology, child development, education, medicine/pre-medicine, public health, or other related field
Have computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
Be comfortable in a collaborative environment, yet able to work independently

Weill Cornell Medicine’s Emergency Medicine Research Associate Program (RAP) exposes college and post-baccalaureate students to research activities within the emergency medicine setting, specifically at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine (NYP/WCM) and NYP/Lower Manhattan.
The Research Associate Program is a research program that occurs in a clinical setting. The program is designed to involve Research Associates in many elements of the performance of clinical research, while providing opportunities for observing clinical practice, and for extended interaction with clinical providers and patients. The program provides educational and practical experiences that increase knowledge about clinical research methodology and clinical care and may enhance participant’s application to medical or graduate school.
Participation in the program requires a minimum commitment of two, 6-hour shifts per week for two consecutive semesters and attendance at scheduled trainings or lectures (2-4 dates per semester). Participation in the program is on a volunteer, unpaid basis.

Description:
Each year, students from around the country participate in SULI at one of the 17 participating DOE laboratories/facilities. In this comprehensive internship, you’ll be mentored by a leading science expert who will guide you in a specific research area to gain maximum exposure to one of the many science and technology areas that underpin the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) missions. This is an opportunity for you to enhance your professional network and develop your interests in state-of-the-art research facilities and to enhance your professional network.
SULI is a paid internship opportunity sponsored and managed by the DOE Office of Science’s Office of Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists (WDTS) in collaboration with DOE laboratories/facilities.
Eligibility:
Currently enrolled full-time students attending an accredited community college, 2 year colleges, and 4 year institutions
Must have earned a high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) equivalent at the time of applying (meet this requirement between the start date and due date of the application period.).
Proof of an earned high school diploma or of passing all five GED tests required to achieve a Certificate of General Educational Development should be provided on the applicant’s undergraduate transcripts.
Within the application, applicants will be able to provide the date they earned their high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED).
Be currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at an accredited institution. Full-time enrollment is determined by the number of hours or courses the school requires for full-time attendance.

Have a cumulative minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for all completed courses taken as a matriculated student at the applicant's current (or recently-graduated) institution and at any institutions attended as a matriculated postsecondary student during the 5 years preceding the start of the most recent enrollment. Central Office Emergency Management ensures the uninterrupted functionality of system-wide operations. Communication, coordination, and collaboration are the building blocks for our comprehensive and systematic approach for managing emergency situations of any magnitude
Intern Duties/Responsibilities:
This is an opportunity for a highly motivated individual to contribute to NYC Health + Hospitals’ systemwide, emergency management-centric approach to special pathogens preparedness and response activities and assist on a local, city scale with the System Special Pathogens Program. The Special Pathogens Project Intern, reporting to and working with the System-wide Special Pathogens Senior and Associate Directors, will provide support for the following:
Support system-wide Special Pathogens preparedness activities and ensure all program requirements are fully met, including conduct of annual exercises and training
Assist in developing protocols, procedures and processes related to special pathogens and address system-wide Special Pathogens preparedness needs
Assist with designing and carrying out healthcare preparedness initiatives related to special pathogens and other communicable disease risks, e.g. trainings, etc.
Provide program management and administrative support, carrying out tasks such as organizing documentation, following-up with appropriate healthcare partners and vendors, setting up and maintaining tracking sheets for preparedness activities, maintaining clear and frequent communications and follow- up with facility representatives as needed.
Carry out administrative oversight for meeting/exercise coordination, calendaring, meeting handouts, presentation materials and other event logistics (e.g., arranging for venue).
Provide administrative support from an ‘all-hazards’ approach to emergency management related activities.
Assist in developing presentations and reports for special pathogens exercises. drills, simulations, or other activities.
Attend and support healthcare facility site visits.
Time commitment:
Minimum 15 hours per week for 6 or more consecutive months.

Terms and time commitment are flexible and can be determined based on the candidate’s school and/or work schedule after receiving and internship offer.

HRTP: A Public Health Internship Program at the NYC Health Department is one of the oldest and largest public health traineeships in the country. For over 60 years, HRTP has provided the opportunity for undergraduate, graduate and professional school students to experience some of the real-life challenges of public health. By working on current relevant public health issues under the close supervision and mentorship of experienced professionals, students apply classroom learning to practical problems in a closely matched practicum. In the process, they learn critical skills needed to excel in the field.
The goals of this program are:
To orient students to the principles and practices of public health planning, research, administration and evaluation.
To broaden students' concept of public health by increasing their awareness of the needs, challenges and career opportunities in this field.
To assist the Health Department in recruiting skilled, professional candidates with proven potential.
Spring session: January–May
Part-time only: Between 10 and 20 hours per week
Eligibility:
Applicants must be enrolled as a matriculated undergraduate, graduate or professional student in a degree program at an accredited college or university in the U.S.
Recent graduates are ineligible.
Applicants must be in good academic standing.
Residency in NYC is required for the fall and winter/spring sessions. There are no residency restrictions for the summer session.
