Now is the time to start searching for Spring internships. Students should check back often for additional Spring opportunities!
Don't miss the 9th Annual Pre-Health Internship Fair on October 15th, from 12PM-3PM in Hunter West Lobby!
Please note that this is not a list of ALL available opportunities; though we do our best to update this list, we encourage you to also review the Pre-Health listserv and Cooperman Business Center listserv, as well as consult the Career Center office and the Handshake app for additional opportunities. Please see this handout for more information on what constitutes an internship or independent study experience.
Things to keep in mind:
Students can complete internships in any semester, not just Senior year!
Earning credit credit for an internship is an option. Students can earn general elective credit for their internship experience, which is a requirement to graduate with honors in Human Biology.
Internship Credit Request Instructions:
First, students must be accepted to an internship in an upcoming semester.
If you would like to earn credit for your internship, please submit a credit request form PRIOR to the start of your internship.
Internship Request Deadlines:
Fall: AUGUST 1ST
Spring.Winter: DECEMBER 1ST
Summer: MAY 1ST
Please keep in mind that your internship is required to meet these criteria set by the Human Biology Program at Hunter College:
is part of an official internship program at your host institution/agency.
has a documented website that explains internship goals and requirements (or your supervisor is willing to fill out a form to be included in the Human Biology internship database).
is NOT a “shadowing” or “scribing” experience, unless part of a broader formal internship program.
is NOT the same as your regular employment, or employment generally that is offered at the agency.
3. We will reach out to you with further instructions once we process your internship request. Please keep in mind that an internship for credit is a general elective and it will appear as a course on your schedule. Students are responsible for any related tuition costs.
Tips:
Keep track of your internship applications with the Applications Tracker for HumBio Majors. When you open the document, please click “File” and “Make a Copy” to fill in and customize the template on your own Google Drive.
Fun fact: it can take up to 20 applications to be called for one internship interview. Internships are competitive, so we recommend applying to 2-5 internships per week.
Students can use this timeline below to plan when to apply for internships:
