My professional aspirations are to be an audio engineer/music producer. Music is something I enjoy and is part of my daily life. As an audio engineer, they take the files or sound and edit them to make them more professional. As a music producer, they nearly do the same thing but they are primarily the ones who oversee the entire project as well as can make the beats for the artists.
Some of the skills I have is I have been making and editing music since I was in high school and have played 3 instruments before, so I do have a background in music. I really started getting a feel for editing audio when I came to UCBA and having that skill now is very helpful to make my music sound professional. The main thing I don’t have is experience. Getting an internship or a part time job working in that industry can help in many ways. Thebalancecareers website says that getting an internship in this field can help you build connection, build confidence, and give you real world experience that you may not be able to get somewhere else. I have also talked to other people who are in the industry and getting to know what went well for them, where they struggled, and it was very informative. To be able to achieve my goal, I will have to keep working at my craft so that each day I can get better and better.
On my personality test, I was 61% feeling and with music feeling plays a big part in what we listen to and why we listen to it. When it comes to planning things out, I prefer to create a schedule or a list of things that have to get done so then that way I am able to get the work done that needs to be along with enjoying some downtime with activities I enjoy.
I would say my long-term goal is to become a music producer and have my own recording studio. That way I can hold sessions when I can and work on as much music as I want to in a given day. I also want to be a music producer because I want to help up and coming artists make their way to stratum. Being able to be an audio engineer or part time music producer early in my career can help me get some understanding of what it takes to become a successful producer in the future.
How I want to contribute to my community as an audio engineer is by not only producing high quality sounds for clients, but one day I hope to help others in their journey as they grow up to become audio engineers. I want to be a mentor to young people just as I had some mentors when I was growing up, and learning the things they did well and not so well and the steps I took to get to where I am.
