IRIS, an innovative student-led conference, aims to celebrate interdisciplinary interactions by bringing together the realms of STEM and STEM-related fields. This one-day conference would allow undergraduate students to promote their research, to network among professors and peers, and to prepare for their academic and professional careers by attending expert panels. It was first created in 2017 and has been held at Wake Forest University annually since Spring 2018 except Spring 2020 (due to COVID-19).
We successfully hosted IRIS for the first time in Spring 2023. The below is a group photo of Elon organizing committee, keynote speaker and panelists.
Elon and Wake Forest University will take a turn to host IRIS so we will host it again at Elon in Spring 2025.
As a part of outreach activity, all research students in the CURM project joined the student organizing committee to co-organize the (in-person) IRIS event in Spring 2022 at Wake Forest University. I served as a faculty mentor helping Dr. Gemmer and the committee to support all their organizing work.
